Our Story

Dr. Harrell founded Pend Oreille Vision Care straight out of school in the summer of 2010.  During his first few years of practice, a new patient might have been greeted by "the doc" himself, his solitary staff person, or a Lab mix named Eli!

As our practice grew, we realized our northern patients and our neighbors in Montana were driving long miles to see us.  As a result, we opened a satellite location in 2014, commonly known as Bonners Ferry Eye Care.  Dr. Tholl began seeing patients at our northern practice in 2015, as she completed her fellowship in ocular disease.

More recently, we renovated our Sandpoint location in the summer of 2016, adding some new paint and our popular antique wagon.  Dr. Prins returned to her home county in 2017 and joined our practice, after completing her schooling in Arizona.  In the summer of 2018, she began seeing patients at our newest satellite clinic, Priest River Eye Care.

Despite our growth, we're purposeful about remaining your small-town eye clinic, delivering state-of-the-art service with a personal touch.

Meet the People of Pend Oreille Vision Care

Our Optometrists

Drs. Tholl, Harrell, & Prins

While Dr. Danielle Tholl typically works at our Bonners Ferry clinic, Dr. Harrell and Dr. Prins are your go-to ocular experts in the Sandpoint area.  "Dr. Nate" often strikes up lasting friendships with our elderly patients.  "Dr. Amber" loves working with kids and growing her expertise on neuro-visual development and rehab.

Our Staff

Sandpoint Employees

Meet Nicole, LoreLei, Dr. Nate, Dr. Amber, and Jen.  We don't get stuck on titles and stale positions.  Instead, all of our staff is constantly learning and adding to their knowledge.  If you need help choosing glasses, learning about contacts, or knowing where to go to get LASIK, any of us will be able to answer your questions.

Our Team

Serving Bonner & Boundary Counties

Fact is, we all work together.  You might catch one of our Bonners Ferry crew in Sandpoint when someone's on vacation.  We help each other with big tasks -- like inventory counts -- or daily, mundane things, like getting patients' insurance claims to process correctly.  Stop by either office and get to know us!
